Half House by CODA

I stumble upon the Collaboration Office of Design & Architecture (CODA) and find this interesting projects. According to CODA, earlier it was design in H-shape with the main entrance and car park located at the back of the site. The kitchen, which had always been central to the well being of a house is located in the middle, therefore providing the kitchen with two facades; facing the lap pool at the front and facing a sunken opened courtyard at the back of the house.

The name came from the dropped (sunken) courtyard - Drop C. They eventually changed it to 'Half-House' due to the shape, programming of the house and the meaning of it.

As the kitchen remains in the middle of the house, it becomes the main connection between the two spaces; the Pavilion where a detached large hall with dining area (oriented towards the Qiblat for large functions) and the Family house, where all the other remaining spaces are located.
